Ian Cox, IT Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe

Ian is an experienced CIO who has led and transformed IT functions, services and platforms in complex environments across different industries on a permanent and consultancy basis. He is recognised as a thought leader on the role of the CIO within business and on using technology to create competitive advantage.

Ian’s experience is in creating, aligning and leading business and IT strategies. Before joining Sony Computer Entertainment Europe as IT Director, he worked across a broad range of industries including support services, media and utilities.

He was named as a finalist in the British Computer Society’s CIO of the Year award in 2011 and was also ranked in the top 100 UK CIOs for 2012 by CIO Magazine.

Ian writes for The CIO Leader website about business and technology strategy, the role of the CIO, technology trends, leadership and culture. He is regularly featured and quoted in the media on business and technology issues.

He is an entertaining and thought provoking keynote speaker at industry and company events on a wide range of business and technology subjects.

After graduating with a BSc in Mathematics Ian gained a Masters in Applied Statistics and Operational Research and also studied Corporate Finance at London Business School. Ian has two children and is a long-suffering QPR supporter.
